So Elton Brand doesn't seem likely to take the offer from the Warriors. Fine. If you're the Warriors you have to still try and spite the Clippers. They may not be able to do it through themselves, but they could become the best enablers.
Philadelphia has decided they want Brand. Trading Carney, Calvin Booth, and some draft pick compensation to the Wolves for that trade exception that the Wolves picked up in the Mark Blount trade means that suddenly Philly can match or exceed the offer that the Clips are making for Mr. Brand.
Now, if you're Golden State, how do you not try and pick up one of Philly's contracts so that they can offer MORE than the Clippers. If you can't get Brand, at least make sure your enemy doesn't get him.
95% of basketball fans at some point dream of being a GM at some point. But for me, it would be so that I could spite my enemies as much as build a championship team.
